For the most part, I think the content should stand in its original form; too much commentary changes it from a preservation effort to an odd type of retro criticism. Occasional commentary is probably necessary, however; I can't imagine the Carcosa posts making sense without some introduction to the whole Carcosa kerfuffle, for instance.

I like the idea of some commentary from you, and the best comments that elaborate or extend the ideas of the post. I think that this is a great idea, and the idea of preservation is a noble one - archive.org has your back, but a collection like this would be even better.

I'd love to see commentary, sidebars, and reproduction of comments - Patrick Stuart did it in his False Machine book and it enhanced most of the posts that the additional context was attached to.

I would support both the ideas: I like to get introduced with a foreword to a topic/post and I like to read readers comment. However (yes, there's always this word): the intro should be done only if worth, not all the posts have a background story to be shared... and comments should be restricted to those that are worth to be read since eleven line of "I love that" or "really interesting James" are not be considered as comments... my two cents!

May the fun be always at your table!
