James, clearly we are of a certain age ;) we share so many common memories and foundational moments in our early SF and fantasy years. I think that’s why the Thousand Suns setting sparks so much interest from me. The tapestry of worlds you lay out feels a lot like the background of my 70’s Traveller campaigns, always more rooted in the lit than more recent movies or TV. Whether I get my table to play it or not, I’m looking forward to soloing the second edition when it’s out. Keep teasing/evangelizing us please.
Love this. Reminds me of the American North-West dialect for news, the Queen’s (King’s) English, or Pyongyang vs Seoul dialect in Korea. All are used in official broadcasts to ensure understanding.
It makes sense then, in a space age society, that it becomes less rigid and more of a Jargon of sorts. Something no one “speaks” but everyone understands. Like standardized military radio format.
